THE ROBERTS CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH, Goldston, North Carolina, was organized in 1876 in a brush harbor. Some of the members at this time were Nancy Roberts, Martha Emerson, Isom Emerson and Terry Headen.

After the brush harbor, the members of the church secured the material of another old church and built a wooden structure. The land on which this structure was built was donated to the members of the church by Mrs. Nancy Roberts. The building was named Roberts Chapel in honor of Mrs. Roberts’ husband, Willis Roberts. Rev. Bennett served as pastor. Following Rev. Bennett, Rev. Matthew Brown served the church as pastor for thirty years.

In 1942 a new church was built. Among the leaders were Willis Roberts, Anderson Womble, G.I. Palmer and G.A. Alston. Rev. C.S. Crumpler was pastor of the church at this time.

The following pastors have served this church: Rev. Bennett, Rev. Brown, Rev. Crumpler, Rev. George Moore, D.D, Rev. T. Van Rhow, Rev. A.T. Alston, and Rev. J.H. Bryant.

Time nor space will allow us to elaborate on the progress that was made under the leadership of these men. Each of these men, with their vision and great faith, gave us the foundation on which we are now building.

Rev. Sampson Bui, Jr. served as our shepard for over twenty years. He worked untiringly to build upon the foundation laid by the pioneering souls. Roberts Chapel has become a leader in the association and in the state.

On October 17, 1993 The Family Worship center was dedicated. It is truly a site to behold and will become a proper monument to the early leaders of Roberts Chapel Church.

But let us not rest on the laurels of the past. Let us continue our efforts to make our home church all that God would have it to be. We can all be a part of the future history of our church.
